Matariki Dawn Service

Wow! What a very special way for us to begin our Pt England Matariki Celebration! Our school day started at 7am with many PES families gathering for a very special morning service led by Matua Willis to place speical remembrance to various aspects of Matariki. We weren’t able to see the stars this morning due to the cloud coverage, but we were treated to a gorgeous sunrise over our Tamaki River. It was lovely to hear our kapa haka students lead us in the Matariki Song before we all gathered for a special time of sharing kai before heading to class for our school assembly.

Exploring Prime Maths

We are moving along into our Prime Maths journey, and as we move along we have encountered many learning bumps along the way. However, as a class,  we have started to make the easy turn to understanding.  We now understand what is expected of us and we are working diligently to complete our learning in a timely manner.

Students can be seen actively using the manipulatives we modeled and worked with at the beginning of each session when completing their work as needed.

Check out this photo of students working independently all using different modes of learning. Such an amazing thing to see!

Kelly Sport

This term, we are learning all about playing Football (Soccer) during our weekly Kelly Sport sessions. We are learning how to move the ball with our feet (dribble) and how to pass it to our friends. We can’t wait to see what else we will learn as the term progresses.

PES FiaFia

This term, the students at PES have been working very hard in their fiafia groups to learn their item for our 2025 FiaFia Night. We had a fabulous time working hard to learn our items and our students were able to grace our community and school whanau with their amazing grace, style, dance and song. It was amazing that the entire community across Glen Innes was able to hear our children singing and cheering into the night. Here are a few photos of some of our amazing culture groups.

Term 1 PENN

This year, our school is celebrating JOY. For our first PENN movie, our Room 15 students decided to spread some joy by sharing some of our favourite jokes with the school. We hope you enjoy our movie! Please leave us your favourite joke in the comments. We’d love to hear them!

Manaiakalani Film Festival – When I Grow Up

This year, the students of Rooms 15 and 16 have enjoyed singing, dancing and watching musicals. During our performing arts study earlier this year, we developed a love for the musical movie “Matilda.” So, for our 2024 Manaiakalani Film Festival Movie, we decided to recreate our own version of the song “When I Grow Up.” We hope you enjoy seeing our smiling faces!  We also love reading our blog comments, so please leave us one!

Our Baby Ducks

We came back from the holidays to a very sweet surprise on our school field. We had a very special mumma bird who had baby ducklings! We have really enjoyed watching them grow over the past few weeks and they are getting quite big. We are learning to take care of our duck family and keep them safe. Mumma has been noticing that our classroom bays are a safe place and we have seen the duck family come and sit in the shade right next to use while we are outside working. This morning, Georgia and Faith ran the drinking fountain to give them some more water to drink/play in and shared bits of their breakfast.

May the Force Be With You!

This term, the students at Pt England School are studying physical science. On team 3 we are learning all about how forces and energy help us everyday. We are going to have heaps of fun learning all about the six simple machines that help us do work easier by lowering the amount of force we need to apply in order to conserve our energy.
